This is a rendering of an in-game model from our interactive project, FATALE

"Salome is a first century Judean princess mentioned in the Christian Bible by Matthew and by Mark. But it is Oscar Wilde's 19th century play �Salome� that really inspired Fatale. In the Bible, Salome is a child who dances for King Herod and asks the head of John the Baptist as a reward. In Wilde's version, Salome falls in love with the prophet. He rejects her and she has him executed. The play ends with her kissing the lips of his decapitated head."

The Path

Rose is mature for her age. But there is a certain air of innocence about her that is charming and disconcerting at the same time. Barely a teenager -Rose is eleven-, she is discovering the world around her with fresh eyes. And all is beautiful! The wind in the trees, the birds in the air, the flowers along the path. Rose is taking it in voraciously. So much so that she will defend even nature's smallest creatures against anyone who might wish them harm.
But who will protect sweet Rose herself, when she is lured off the path? With a promise of unearthly bliss, of light in abundance where no sun will ever shine? You're just a little girl, Rose! Just a fragile little girl...

The Path: Ginger

The Path

The forest is a great place for adventures! And a much more fun way to get to grandmother's house. Ginger isn't one for sticking to paths. Running around in the fields, climbing gnarly old trees, playing wild games with abandoned toys, collecting pebbles and hitting things with sticks. The idea of growing up doesn't hold much appeal. Who'd want to give up their childhood? But Ginger is 13. The end is near.
She's a fresh flower of the field in her own way. Very independent -a loner, actually- and completely absorbed in the game she thinks of as life. Will she bloom before she wilts? Will she ever learn? Should she?

Second character from The Path

Seventeen. A glorious age for a girl. Having left her childhood body behind, she enjoys parading the new Carmen. She is fully aware of the heads that turn when she passes by. She�ll give them a little bit extra to look at too. A shake of the hips. A wink of the eye. But no more.
Carmen may fancy herself a femme fatale. But inside she knows that all she wants is a little bit of attention. From a strong, warm and handsome man, perhaps. Who can keep her safe. Hold her tight. With a strength that approaches violence. He doesn�t need to be as wild as she is, but it wouldn�t hurt.

The Path: Robin

This is the first finished artwork I made to show off the characters (I designed and modelled) of our upcoming video game which is a re-working of the Little Red Ridinghood fairy tale. Robin is the youngest of the Red Girls in The Path

her story:
Robin is about nine years old. A very lively child. She loves playing in the forest. Only on the path, of course. Mother tells her to never go into the woods. She never says why. Robin thinks there may by fun things to play with in the forest. She sometimes hears the creaking sounds of what seems to be a swing! Or the howl of a wolf in the distance! Robin likes wolves. They are her favourite kind of animal!

The Graveyard is a very short computer game designed by Auriea Harvey and Micha�l Samyn. You play an old lady who visits a graveyard. You walk around, sit on a bench and listen to a song. It's more like an explorable painting than an actual game. An experiment with realtime poetry, with storytelling without words.

The Endless Forest

The Endless Forest is a Mini-Multiplayer Online Game in the format of a Screesaver for WindowsPC. In the game everyone plays as a deer in the forest.

This is primarily an arts project and research into alternative game designs. It was made by a small team on which I was the Art Director, 3d Artist, and co-Game Designer.

Self Portrait (summer)

After far too long I am calling this image finished. It feels funny to post a self portrait here in the CGTalk gallery but I did work hard on it, and did prove to myself that I could finish it (blah, it took almost a year working off and on! see the process here.) The leaves were certainly the biggest challenge for me. But I am happy with it, and it pays testament to my personality, and coming to grips with my fear of bugs while gardening last summer too. Thanks to those who gave me some words of advice in the WIP thread long long ago. And comments and crits are welcome now because I am going to launch into a new painting soon, this time the focus off myself.
